DAY TO DAY SCHEDULE
Day 1: Arrival in Utrecht
The first hotel you will be staying in is ideally located in the center of the Netherlands on the edge of the Rhine river. Utrecht has a wonderful old historic city center full of culture, shops and restaurants. Utrecht can be reached by train from Amsterdam Airport in approx. 45 minutes.
Day 2: Utrecht – Amsterdam
67 km
You cycle through the city of Utrecht and further along the river Vecht to Amsterdam. Characteristic for this area are the many stately homes and summerhouses built by rich Amsterdam merchants in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the afternoon you arrive in Amsterdam where you can enjoy the restaurants, the historic buildings and homes, the boat rides and the Dutch culture of freedom,
Day 3: Amsterdam – Alkmaar
62 km
Today you will ride away from and through Amsterdam in the morning to eventually reach the famous Cheese City of Alkmaar. Alkmaar is known for its weekly Cheese Markets and its rich history which is still evident when you walk through the city’s centre. The North Sea coast is closeby and well worth a visit.
Day 4: Alkmaar – Enkhuizen
55 km
The cheese market is held from 10 o’clock in the morning till 12:30, every Friday. So make sure you plan your trip accordingly if you want to visit this market. From the cheese town of Alkmaar you cycle from the North Sea Coast area to Lake IJsselmeer, one of the biggest lakes of Europe. You end your day in Enkhuizen with its lovely canals and restaurants on the main square.
Day 5: Enkhuizen – Harderwijk
75 km
From Enkhuizen you cycle along the dike across the IJsselmeer. You will encounter beautiful Dutch nature; past farms, forests and the farmland of Flevoland.
Day 6: Harderwijk – Utrecht
64 km
The greatest charm of this area is the combination of wood, water and polders. This is a day to enjoy the nature and sun. Along the banks of the Randmeren you are cycling away from the area of Harderwijk and back to the Utrecht area.
Day 7: Return
After breakfast you will return home. We hope you had a wonderful time in Holland!
